Braun’s products are characterized by an intuitive, useful and durable design. This is made possible by the close cooperation between engineers and well-known designers. The industrial designer Dieter Rams, in particular, became a leading designer who developed Braun's memorable design language for over 30 years and defined ten principles for good design. Rams’ theses have influenced generations of designers as well as brands, including Apple. "That helped us find our roots again", Prof. Oliver Grabes, Design Director at Braun and former iF Juror, said in an interview with ndion. Under Grabes management, Braun celebrated its comeback into the audio sector with Braun Audio LE Series that received an iF gold award 2020.
Another former Braun designer is Wilhelm Wagenfeld who has even a special relation to iF: He wrote an for its foundation in 1953, which many designers have been using as a credo in their work until today.
In this anniversary year, the traditional brand is looking to the past, but also very much to the future. According to the company, the focus is on continuing to develop products with timeless aesthetics that simplify life and have a long service life. We are looking forward to how Braun will take its path to a sustainable future.
