This project facilitates teams of youths to produce and distribute carbonized briquettes for institutional cooking. The briquettes are used in customized stoves developed Ndejje University. This project (a first of its kind in Uganda) has been successfully piloted at St Kizito High School in Namugongo. The briquettes are made from Agro-waste (such maize cobs/maize stems, rice-husks,coffee-husks) and municipal bio-waste (food residues and market waste). The process of producing and distributing briquettes to various institutions as a business, Youths teams will save trees and forests. Respiratory complications associated with unsafe cooking.

JURY STATEMENT

An innovative project that helps train young people in entrepreneurship while producing cooking briquettes from waste products. This grassroots initiative deserves wider attention and support!
